Barbara Stanwyck (Brooklyn, Nova York (Estats Units), 16 de juliol de 1907 - Santa Monica, Califòrnia, 20 de gener de 1990 fou una actriu nord-americana.
D'una infantesa difícil, Barbara Stanwyck va treure una força i una voluntat fora del comú. Comença en el cinema des dels començaments del sonor i és propulsada per l'escenògraf Frank Capra que li dóna papers dignes del seu talent d'actriu. Arriba al cim encarnant els estereotips de l'heroïna del cinema negra. Destaca en els gèneres cinematogràfics més variats : el melodrama, el western, la policíaca, el cinema negra, la comèdia, i la pel·lícula social. Ha estat candidata 4 vegades a l'Oscar i el 1982 en va rebre un d'honorífic.
