SOS Social Centres in Estonia
In Estonia there are currently three Social Centres for children and the local community, including one in Narva. Many SOS Social Centres operate via Family Strengthening Programmes, that aim to support the wider community. Below is some information about one of the Social Centres that SOS Children runs in Estonia:

Narva
Description of SOS Social Centre/FSP:
The project is called “Power of Giving” and was started in January of 2008. The project has two partners: Social Help Department of Narva City (town on the border of European Union with Russia) and SOS Children's Village Association of Estonia.
Work and Achievements:
During 2009 the Social Centre gave psycho-social support and different services to 191 child beneficiaries (89 girls and 102 boys), 136 caregivers (96 women and 40 men) and 88 families through this project. 62 children, 42 adults and 42 families continue to have project services in 2010.
Family support workers developed good contacts and confidence with families and many projects are organized for children and adult beneficiaries, such as: speech therapy, psychological counseling, transportation to special services, hobby activities and medications.
The centre started values-based, cognitive-behavioral, small-group trainings for parents and children in Leadership clubs. The parent club activities have very good feedback and high status between adult beneficiaries. Children like our Educational support service as it creates a good basis for their academic success.
