SOS Children's Village Malakal
SOS Children's Village Malakal opened its gates in March 2002.
The SOS Children's Village consists of ten family houses, where up to 100 children can find a new home. There is also the village director's house, co-worker accommodation, an administration and service area, a guest house for co-workers, a community centre, a multi-purpose hall and a well.
Background to Malakal
Malakal is located on the banks of the White Nile, just north of its confluence with the Sobat River. The town was a garrison of the northern Khartoum-based government for much of the recent civil war, but is now part of South Sudan.
