Battambang
Description of SOS Social Centre/FSP:
The SOS Social Centre will focus on supporting families from the neighbourhood who are affected by AIDS. These families are provided with medicine and food, and receive help so that they can send their children to school.
Work and Achievements:
It was expected that the centre would be fully functional by September 2009, but due to difficulties in recruitment of staff & obtaining the official license from the Ministry of Health, this centre’s original objective to serve people and children affected by HIV/AIDS are halted until the correct licenses are obtained. However, the family strengthening activities are still going. Within the 15 km radius of the centre, the beneficiaries meeting the criteria of FSP number 215 children.
The 215 children constitute 135 families. The FSP concentrates its core activities on the improvement of the family condition regarding to the support of the children’s development. It alleviates the socio-economic situation through diversification of services provided in order for parents to support their own children independently. In particular, we support 215 children with education and health care, and 6 caregivers with vocational training on an agriculture course.
During 2010, the SOS Social Centre will open for the serving of mother and child health care.
