Bug 1623 – Missing article

Last modified: 2005-03-03 14:45:02 UTC

Wikimedia Bugzilla is closed!

Wikimedia has migrated from Bugzilla to Phabricator. Bug reports should be created and updated in Wikimedia Phabricator instead. Please create an account in Phabricator and add your Bugzilla email address to it.
Wikimedia Bugzilla is read-only. If you try to edit or create any bug report in Bugzilla you will be shown an intentional error message.
In order to access the Phabricator task corresponding to a Bugzilla report, just remove "static-" from its URL.
You could still run searches in Bugzilla or access your list of votes but bug reports will obviously not be up-to-date in Bugzilla.

Description Don Newman 2005-03-03 05:09:27 UTC
bad link
Comment 1 Rowan Collins [IMSoP] 2005-03-03 14:13:23 UTC
Please try in future to include a better description in bug reports. "Meadow
Vole" is not a summary of the bug, and "bad link" gives very little information
about what it is you think needs fixing.

Looking at the page in question, my *guess* is that you visited the page while
it was vandalised by replacing it with a redirect to a hideously mangled page on
a different language Wikipedia. [See
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Meadow_Vole&action=history and
http://aa.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Meadow_Vole&action=history.]

This doesn't, as far as I know, consitute or reveal any bugs in the software or
configuration, it's just somebody being very bored and/or very socially inept.

If I've misdiagnosed the issue, please reopen the bug with a better description.
Comment 2 Zigger 2005-03-03 14:45:02 UTC
For the record, after this obscure report was made and before Comment #1,
the page showed (in anonymous mode) the message Mediawiki:Missingarticle,
which is different from the standard Mediawiki:Noarticletext message
shown for a fabricated article title such as Thisisnotanarticle.

Logging-in showed the real reverted page.

Using an &action=purge URL seemed to fix the problem.

Note You need to log in before you can comment on or make changes to this bug.
